Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav launched a new cleaning process called the “14 Minutes Miracle” for all Vande Bharat Express trains.
The goal is to clean the entire train set in just 14 minutes, ensuring it’s ready for its next run.
Additionally, the minister joined a cleanliness initiative called “Shramdaan for cleanliness” at Gurugram Railway Station.
This initiative was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “One date, one hour together” call as part of the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign.
During this event, Vaishnav actively participated in cleaning the railway tracks and station premises for the first time.
The Railway Minister then got on the Ajmer-Delhi Cantt Vande Bharat Express at Gurgaon Railway Station and went to Delhi Cantt.
He checked how clean the train was and talked to the people on board.
The Union Minister watched a demonstration of the “14 minutes miraculous cleaning” of the Vande Bharat Express by the ‘Swachh Vande Veeros’ at Delhi Cantt station and started the cleaning process for all Vande Bharat Express trains all over the country.
As per the Railway Ministry, the “14-minute miraculous cleaning” means cleaning the train carriages with great care and accuracy.
The quick cleaning process will make Vande Bharat trains faster.
The ministry mentioned that this method involves assigning staff to clean the inside and outside of the train cars using dry and wet methods.
They also gather garbage bags and appropriate items to maintain cleanliness.
Speaking to the media after introducing the ’14 Minute Miracle Cleaning,’ the Union Minister mentioned that the Prime Minister motivates us to discover innovative ways to enhance public services.
Vaishnav explained, “We’ve initiated a fresh approach focused on cleanliness, which will lead to shorter turnaround times for Vande Bharat Express trains.”
He also mentioned that this initiative started with Vande Bharat Express and will be expanded step by step to ensure cleanliness throughout the entire Indian Railways network.
Every year, the Ministry of Railways celebrates ‘Swachhta Hi Seva Pakhwada’ (SHS) from September 15th to October 2nd.
This campaign is focused on creating a more eco-friendly railway system and promoting a cleaner India.
In the first 15 days of this year’s SHS campaign, over 2.19 lakh individuals took part in approximately 2,050 activities, contributing a total of 685,883 hours to promote cleanliness, as reported by the ministry.
The Railways reported that they have cleaned up approximately 105 tonnes of plastic from the railway areas and gathered roughly 1,085 tonnes of discarded materials from different railway locations.
They initiated a special effort to tidy up the areas surrounding the railway tracks.
The ministry mentioned that as part of this program, the Indian Railways cleaned up 12,700 kilometers of railway tracks.
