Punjab National Bank to Close Inactive Savings Accounts from July 1

There is important news for the millions of customers of Punjab National Bank (PNB). If you have a savings account with PNB, you need to pay attention.

Accounts that have not been used for the last several years will be closed from July 1, 2024. This decision has been taken by PNB to ensure the safety of its savings accounts.

PNB has repeatedly informed its savings account customers about this upcoming change. Here’s what the bank has announced.

Accounts to be Closed from July 1

If you have a savings account with PNB, you should check its status immediately. PNB plans to close accounts that have had no transactions for the past three years or have had a zero balance for the last three years.

The deadline for this is June 30, 2024. Notices have been sent to affected customers, and these accounts will be closed one month after the notice has been sent.

To keep these accounts active, visit your bank branch and complete the KYC (Know Your Customer) process immediately. Otherwise, these accounts will be closed on July 1, 2024.

Steps to Keep Your Account Active

PNB has advised customers to get their KYC done for accounts that are at risk of closure. The deadline to complete this process is June 30, 2024.

Inactive accounts are often misused by scammers, which is why PNB is taking this precautionary measure.

The bank has sent out notices to affected customers, and the assessment of account activity will be based on the status as of April 30, 2024.

If your account becomes inactive and you want to reactivate it, you must visit a PNB branch and fill out a KYC form, attaching the necessary documents.

After this, your account will be reactivated. For more details, customers are encouraged to visit their bank branch.
