Private Hospitals in Haryana Stop Ayushman Card Treatment

Private hospitals in Haryana have ceased offering free treatment to Ayushman card holders, starting July 1. This decision comes after the government did not meet demands, including delayed payments to hospitals.

This action comes after the government failed to meet certain demands, including timely payment for treatments covered under the Ayushman card scheme.

Reasons Behind the Decision

Private hospital operators cite delayed payments from the government, which sometimes extend up to 6 months. They also complain of deductions and rejections in treatment bill approvals.

Impact on Patients and Hospitals

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has highlighted that around 432 private hospitals in Haryana, owing approximately Rs 200 crore, have stopped Ayushman card treatments. This affects about 45,000 patients daily across the state.

Failed Negotiations with Government

Dr. Rohit Sardana, IMA’s Karnal district head, stated that recent talks between the IMA and the government were inconclusive,

prompting the decision to halt Ayushman card treatments. Outstanding dues amount to Rs 18 crore in Karnal and Rs 22 crore in Rohtak districts alone.

What Patients Can Do

If denied treatment under Ayushman card:

1) Complain via Toll-Free Number: Dial 14555 to lodge a complaint nationally.

2) Online Complaint Portal: Register grievances at https://cgrms.pmjay.gov.in/GRMS/loginnew.htm.

These steps aim to assist patients facing difficulties due to the recent changes in Ayushman card treatments in Haryana.

Impact on Patients and Actions to Take

Patients facing difficulties can still avail of up to Rs 5 lakh in free treatment by hospitals participating in the Ayushman Yojana panel.

If denied treatment, patients can lodge complaints via the toll-free number 14555 or through the Ayushman Bharat Yojana portal at https://cgrms.pmjay.gov.in/GRMS/loginnew.htm.
