In a bid to offer a more affordable and convenient solution for households, government-owned oil company Indian Oil has commenced the distribution of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections to homes.
The company aims to make these connections available across the country, benefiting an estimated 1.5 crore individuals.
By opting for CNG and PNG connections, households can bid farewell to expensive LPG cylinders. Compared to other fuel options available in the market, CNG and PNG are up to 30 percent cheaper.
This cost-effectiveness makes them an attractive alternative for consumers seeking budget-friendly energy sources.
Aside from being economical, CNG and PNG also provide enhanced safety features compared to LPG.
Indian Oil Corporation, in collaboration with ‘AirVyo Technologies,’ has established a testing unit for CNG cylinders in Tamil Nadu.
CNG and PNG are considered “much safer” for household use, as they are lighter than air. In the event of any leakage, they quickly dissipate into the atmosphere.

- NCT of Delhi: Rs 73.59/- per kg
- Noida: Rs 77.20/- per kg
- Greater Noida: Rs 77.20/- per kg

- Muzaffarnagar: Rs 81.58/- per kg
- Meerut: Rs 81.58/- per kg
- Shamli: Rs 81.58/- per kg
On the other hand, the rates for PNG at IGL are:
