“Good news for women on Women’s Day! Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reduced the price of cooking gas (LPG) cylinders by Rs 100 starting today. He shared this news on Instagram.
Earlier, the Modi government decided to continue giving financial help for another year to families who use LPG under the Ujjwala scheme.
This help is Rs 300 per cylinder. Now, everyone will save Rs 100 on each cylinder from today.
So, how much will the cylinder cost now?
As of 9 o’clock today, the new prices weren’t updated on the Indian Oil website.
Before the change, the cost of a non-subsidized 14 kg LPG cylinder was Rs 903 in Delhi and Rs 929 in Kolkata.
Now, after the government’s announcement, it will be Rs 803 in Delhi and Rs 829 in Kolkata.
In Mumbai, it will be Rs 802.50 instead of Rs 902.50, and in Chennai, it will be Rs 818.50 instead of Rs 918.50.
The last time the prices changed was on August 30, 2023. On March 1, 2023, the price in Delhi was Rs 1103 per cylinder but it got cheaper by Rs 200 after that.
People who benefit from the Ujjwala scheme will get a gas cylinder in Delhi for only Rs 603.
The government has decided to keep giving a subsidy of Rs 300 per cylinder to Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries in the year 2024-25 too.
Around 10 lakh people will benefit, getting a subsidy for 12 cylinders each year.
Normally, the price of an LPG cylinder in Delhi is Rs 903, but with the scheme, it will be available for Rs 603.”
