PAN Alert! Final Deadline to link your PAN Card with Aadhaar

Have you linked your PAN card with your Aadhaar card? If not! So be careful. Let it happen that because of this slight delay, you lose your PAN card.

The Income Tax Department made a tweet on January 9 in which it is written that after March 31, your unlinked PAN card will be of no use.

If this happens, you will neither be able to file an income tax return nor issue your pending return.

If you still need to link your PAN with your Aadhaar, you can do this by following the steps below.

Your pan card will not work from April 1

According to the Income Tax Act, 1961, all PAN card holders who do not come under the exempted category must link their PAN with their Aadhaar before March 31, 2023.

If you do not do this, your PAN card will become inoperative from April 1 2023.

If you want to link your PAN card with an Aadhaar card now, you will have to deposit a late fine of Rs 1,000.

The last date to link PAN with Aadhaar without a late penalty has passed. Let us tell you that from March 31, 2022, to June 30, 2022,

a late fine of Rs 500 was charged for linking PAN with Aadhaar. After this, the late penalty was increased to Rs 1,000.

Aadhaar-PAN link by following these simple steps

1. First of all, visit the portal “https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/”. Then click on the ‘Link Aadhaar’ option’ under the ‘Quick Links’ section.

2. Here, type your PAN card and Aadhaar card number.

3. If your PAN card is already linked with the Aadhaar card, then the message ‘PAN is already linked with the Aadhaar’ will appear on your screen.

4. If you have paid your late fine on the NSDL portal, then the payment information will be validated by electronic filing.

After this, you will receive a notification saying, “Your payment details are verified”.

5. After giving the necessary details, you must click on the Link Aadhaar option. After this, a six-digit OTP will come into your phone.

6. After successfully submitting your request, you can check your status.

7. If the payment is not successful on the e-filing portal when you have already made the payment on the NSDL portal, then the PAN holders will have to wait for 4-5 working days before sending the PAN-Aadhaar link request.
