The cost of 4G smartphones is going down in India. Because there are too many 4G phones in stores, sellers are reducing their prices to sell them by the end of 2023.
They got too many 4G phones, thinking many people would buy them during the festive season.
Now, they are making the prices lower and giving good deals to customers.
A report from Livemint says that 60% of the phones sent out in October were 5G phones, and this might keep happening in 2024.
Right now, 5G phones are supposed to be sold in the market as more affordable options, between Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000.
Tarun Pathak, a director at Counterpoint Research, thinks that when cheaper 5G phones come out, it will be hard for stores to sell affordable 4G phones.
The report says that Pathak believes the prices of 4G phones are getting lower at the right time because 4G phones are expected to be in the Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000 range for the next two quarters.
Chinese and Samsung are planning to sell cheaper 5G phones in 2024. Right now, 5G phones are more expensive than 4G phones on average.
But as the difference in price gets bigger, it will be tough for stores to sell their 4G phones next year.
So, they will have to offer discounts on 4G phones to make people choose them instead of 5G.
