Have you heard about Nokia recently? They got a new leader in India, and his name is Tarun Chhabra.
Until now, HMD Global made Nokia smartphones, and they were sold with the Nokia name.
But now, HMD has decided not to release phones under the Nokia name anymore.
HMD Global said they will release their own smartphone with their own name.
Nokia made its new head in India
Because of this, HMD took away the Nokia name from everywhere, like on social media and the website, and replaced it with HMD.
Now, Nokia needs to work really hard from the start to grow its smartphone business and make a name for itself once more.
The company is already taking steps in this direction and making big changes around the world.
As a part of this change, the company chose Tarun Chhabra as the new leader in India.
This is to make the company work more efficiently and spend less money. As per a report by Moneycontrol, the first leader of Nokia in India was Sanjay Malik, and Tarun Chhabra used to be the senior vice president of Nokia Mobile Networks in India.
Thousands of people will be employed
Sanjay Malik led Nokia in India for eight years, but now he will work only until March 31, 2024.
Instead, Tarun Chhabra, the new leader of Nokia India, will report to Tommi Uitto, the President of Mobile Networks at Nokia.
Nokia India has confirmed that Tarun Chhabra will begin working as the head of India for the company starting from April 2024.
I want to share that, based on the latest news about Nokia, the company might need to let go of many employees to make its brand known again.
It’s expected that around 11,000 to 14,000 employees worldwide might lose their jobs in 2024 to help the company spend less money.
