NHAI to raise Toll Prices on Expressway by 5% from April 1st

Starting April 1, traveling on the Eastern Peripheral and Delhi-Meerut Expressway will become more expensive for vehicle owners.

NHAI will raise the toll charge by five percent starting from midnight on March 31.

NHAI has already begun the process of determining the new toll rates.

After Holi, the new toll charge rates will be finalized and public information will be provided.

Once the new rates are implemented, the cost for thousands of drivers using the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway will go up.

Private company has the responsibility of maintenance

NHAI has assigned a private company the task of collecting and managing toll charges on various expressways, including the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

The project director of NHAI mentioned that these companies are allowed to increase toll rates by a certain percentage each year as per their contracts.

He also stated that starting from April 1, there will be a five percent increase in toll rates on most toll roads, including the Eastern Peripheral and Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

Toll charge will increase in integer numbers

At certain locations, toll charges might increase by more than five percent.

For instance, if the toll charge after a five percent increase is Rs 63, 64 or Rs 89, 54, it will be rounded off to the nearest integer amount.

This means the toll charge can be set at Rs 65 instead of Rs 64, Rs 90 instead of Rs 89, or a similar amount, which may be two or three rupees higher.

Similarly, if the toll charge for a trip is Rs 81, 51, or a similar amount, it will be rounded down to the nearest integer amount.
