New Special Parliament session set to commence on Ganesh Chaturthi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has announced a special Parliament session set to commence on September 18.

The session will kick off at the old Parliament building and later shift to the new Parliament House on September 19, coinciding with Ganesh Chaturthi.

Scheduled to run until September 22, the session’s agenda remains undisclosed, sparking ongoing political speculation.

Opposition Calls for Transparency

On Tuesday, the opposition coalition in India pressed the central government to disclose the session’s agenda, expressing a desire for a constructive gathering.

They hope the government will address pressing concerns such as inflation and unemployment during this special session.

Sonia Gandhi’s Letter to PM Modi

Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi has written a letter to Prime Minister Modi, seeking clarification on the session’s agenda.

She has also proposed the formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) during this session, highlighting the nation’s economic situation, caste census, border tensions with China,

and recent revelations concerning the Adani Group as crucial topics for discussion.

In her letter, Gandhi pointed out that the special session was called without consulting political parties, leaving them unaware of its agenda.

Opposition Strategy Meeting at Kharge’s Residence

Leaders of various opposition parties from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha attended a dinner meeting hosted by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge at his residence.

Gaurav Gogoi, a Congress leader, stressed the urgency of the upcoming special session, emphasizing that the government has yet to unveil its agenda.

He appealed to the government for transparency, urging them to disclose the session’s objectives.
