New SIM Card Rules Issued by TRAI (New Rule)

New updates are released sometimes about SIM card rules. Important information is given for mobile users.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recently shared a new update about SIM cards.

It’s about changing your network provider, which means there will be new rules for switching to a different telecom company.

TRAI has made a draft called Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability Regulations, 2023, following advice from the Department of Telecommunications.

You won’t be able to switch to a new telecom company within 7 days of getting a new SIM card.

If your old SIM is damaged or lost, you’ll have to wait 7 days after getting a new one before you can switch.

These new rules are meant to stop scams related to SIM cards. TRAI wants to prevent misuse of services like Mobile Number Portability and SIM replacement, which have led to an increase in fraud cases.

These rules are expected to start from July 1. We might get more updates about them soon.
