New Delhi:
Starting from October 1, 2023, obtaining a birth certificate will become crucial as it will serve as a vital document for various official verifications.
The Birth and Death Registration (Amendment) Act, 2023 comes into effect.
The new aims to simplify documentation processes and establish a comprehensive national and state-level database for registered births and deaths.
The significance of this law lies in its provision that the birth certificate will become definitive proof of an individual’s date and place of birth,
applying to those born on or after the commencement of the Act in 2023.
Birth Certificate Mandatory
Under the new rules, an Individual’s birth certificate becomes very important and will be required for many processes.
Processes such as school admissions, obtaining a driver’s license, voter registration, marriage registration, government employment, passport issuance, and obtaining an Aadhaar number.
Furthermore, the law aims to streamline the registration process for adopted, orphaned, abandoned, and surrogate children,
as well as children of single parents or unmarried mothers.
This initiative underscores the importance of securing a birth certificate for anyone who does not possess one,
as it will play a pivotal role in official verifications and documentation starting from October 1, 2023.
