National Career Service Platform Offers 35.7 lakh Job Opportunities

The labor ministry made an announcement on Tuesday, stating that a record-breaking number of 35.7 lakh vacancies were recorded on the National Career Service (NCS) platform in the fiscal year 2022-23.

Transformation Of the National Employment Service

The Ministry of Labour and Employment is executing the National Career Service (NCS) Project as a Mission Mode Project with this initiative.

The aim of this initiative is to revamp the National Employment Service and expand its scope to offer a range of employment-related services such as job matching, vocational guidance, career counseling, information on skill development courses, internships, and more.

For those who are unaware, these services offered by NCS are accessible online and were inaugurated by the Prime Minister during its launch in 2015.

Huge Improvement in Vacancy Reporting

According to a statement from the labor ministry, the NCS portal has recorded its highest number of vacancies for the fiscal year 2022-23 since its inception.

Employers have reported approximately 35.7 lakh vacancies on NCS during this period, compared to approximately 13 lakh vacancies in the previous year (2021-22).

Overall, the reporting of vacancies on NCS for the fiscal year 2022-23 has increased by 175 percent compared to the previous year.

Furthermore, during the fiscal year 2022-23, the NCS portal has recorded the highest number of active vacancies, surpassing 5.3 lakh on October 30, 2022.

Notably, the surge in job postings on NCS has been evident across all sectors.

The finance and insurance sector has registered a remarkable growth, with over 20.8 lakh vacancies reported on NCS during the fiscal year 2022-23, an increase of more than 800 percent from the 2.2 lakh vacancies reported in the previous year (2021-22).

In addition to the finance and insurance sector, the operations and support sector has also witnessed a growth in vacancies, with 3.75 lakh vacancies reported in 2022-23, a 400 percent increase from the 76 thousand reported in 2021-22.

In the fiscal year 2022-23, vacancies in other sectors including Hotels, Food Service and Catering, Manufacturing, Health, and Education, among others, have also seen a significant rise as compared to the previous year.

During this period, the NCS portal has accomplished a significant milestone of registering over 1 million employers since its launch.

It is worth noting that out of the total registered employers, more than 8 lakhs employers were registered during the fiscal year 2022-23 alone.

Significantly, the service sector has recorded the highest number of employer registrations (6.5 lakh), followed by the manufacturing sector.

It should be noted that all the services provided on the NCS portal are free of cost for all stakeholders, including jobseekers, employers, training providers, and placement organizations.
