On December 30, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to start the Amrit Bharat Train, which will depart from Ayodhya in Ram’s city and head to Darbhanga district in Bihar.
The Railway Board has shared details about the fare structure for the Amrit Bharat Express.
For distances ranging from one to 50 kilometers on this train, the minimum fare will be Rs 35, excluding reservation charges and other fees.
A circular from the Railway Board has been sent to all regions, containing information about the fare structure of the Amrit Bharat train.
The circular includes a fare table with distance slabs, specifying the fares for second class and sleeper class.
The inaugural Amrit Bharat train, starting on December 30, will only have second-class and sleeper-class coaches. The fare for AC coaches has not been decided yet.
According to a railway official, when comparing the fares of the second and sleeper classes of the Amrit Bharat train with other mail or express trains, the Amrit Bharat train will be 15 to 17 percent more expensive.
In other trains, the fare for traveling 1 to 50 kilometers is Rs 30, excluding reservation and other charges, while the Amrit Bharat train’s fare is Rs 35, making it 17 percent more costly.
The circular states that concession tickets will not be accepted on these trains.
The eligibility criteria for Privilege Pass, PTO (Privilege Ticket Order), and Duty Pass for railway employees will be the same as those for Mail/Express.
Booking of tickets will be allowed based on passes issued to MPs, Rail Travel Coupons (TRCs) issued to MLAs-MLCs, and passes issued to freedom fighters, as reimbursement is provided for these.
The Railway Board has requested CRIS to update the software to reflect the necessary changes for Amrit Bharat trains and their fares.
