MG Comet battery pack
The MG Comet is expected to get a battery pack between 20kWh – 25kWh. According to the reports, it will generate power of around 40bhp.
It can get an electric range of about 200 kilometres on a single charge. The battery pack will feature LFP cylindrical cells similar to the Tata Nexon EV.
These cells are light in weight and better at charging. MG will source batteries for its new EV from Tata Autocomp.
Features of MG Comet
MG Comet will get FWD (front-wheel-drive) system. Its length is expected to be around 2.9 meters.
It has been designed on the company’s new Global Small Electric Vehicles (GSEV) platform. A dual 10.25-inch display will be available in this Mini EV.
One of these will be for infotainment and the other for instrumentation. It will also have high-end features like automatic AC, keyless entry, connected car technology and steering-mounted controls.
Why the name MG Comet?
The name MG Comet is inspired by the popular aeroplane of 1934. It participated in the England-Australia McRobertson Air Race.
Besides this, cars like Hector are in MG Motor’s portfolio. Hector was named after the fighter British bi-plane involved in the World War. The Gloster, on the other hand, is named after a prototype jet-engine aircraft.
