MG Motor India has released an enticing teaser for the highly anticipated 2023 MG Astor, set to hit the market soon.
The updated SUV is expected to showcase a refreshed design, enhanced features, and an appealing new paint scheme.
Positioned as a competitor to popular models like Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyrider, and Volkswagen Taigun, the MG Astor will also face competition from upcoming vehicles such as the Honda Elevate and Citroën C3 Aircross.
A notable highlight of the MG Astor is its distinction as the first SUV in its segment to offer Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and an AI assistant capable of understanding over 100 voice commands, including 35 in Hinglish.
The 2023 Astor is expected to feature a larger 14-inch vertical infotainment system, similar to the one found in the Hector facelift, replacing the current model’s 10-inch touchscreen.
Additionally, the new Astor will sport an updated 7-inch all-digital driver console and operating system.
MG has introduced a captivating 8-colour ambient lighting system with voice commands in the 2023 Hector, which is likely to make its way into the upcoming Astor.
The SUV is also anticipated to offer an array of exciting features, including a digital car key, connected telematics, three driving modes (normal, urban, and dynamic), heated ORVMs, 14 ADAS features, and more.
Under the hood, the Astor will continue to offer two petrol engine options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine and a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine.
The 1.5-litre NA petrol engine delivers 108bhp and 144Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and CVT option.
On the other hand, the turbo petrol engine generates an impressive 138bhp and 220Nm of torque, exclusively mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
