Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest carmaker, is rapidly updating its vehicle lineup.
The company recently introduced its famous offroading SUV Maruti Jimny at the Auto Expo, and the official booking of this SUV was also started.
Although the Jimny was already available in the three-door version in the global market, the company is going to introduce its 5-door version here in the Indian market.
Even before the launch, this offroading SUV is getting better customer response.
If media reports are to be believed, bookings for 15,000 units of this SUV units have been registered so far.
According to media reports, the company can launch this SUV for sale in May.
This SUV will be sold through the company’s premium Nexa dealership.
In the Maruti Jimny, which comes in a total of four variants, the company has used a 1.5-litre capacity K-series naturally aspirated petrol engine, which generates strong power of 103 bhp and torque of 134 Nm.
This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission gearbox.
Apart from this, a four-wheel drive (4X4) All Grip Pro system has been given in it; the company claims that this technology improves the offroading capabilities of the SUV.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny
The company is offering a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the middle of the dashboard.
Two AC vents are visible in the front; apart from this, the steering wheel matches the Maruti Swift greatly.
It also gets a dashboard-mounted grab handle. The SUV’s speedometer has been given a sporty and offroading look.
As features, Maruti Suzuki’s Smartplay Proplus infotainment system, wireless Apple Car Play and Android connectivity are available in this SUV.
If media reports are to be believed, then the delivery of this offroading SUV may have to wait for three months.
However, it needs to be more clear where its waiting has reached.
Maruti Suzuki is already overburdened with deliveries of other models, with the recently launched Maruti Grand Vitara, Brezza, and Ertiga being the major vehicles for which customers have to wait for a long time.
In such a situation, the waiting period will increase further after the new model’s arrival in the market.
What will be the price:
Although it is difficult to say anything about its price before launch, it is believed that it can be offered for 10 to 12 lakh rupees.
The SUV is being compared to the Mahindra Thar before it hits the market.
However, there is a lot of difference between both SUVs.
Mahindra recently launched the two-wheel drive version of Thar, the starting price of which has been fixed at just Rs 9.99 lakh.
It will be interesting to see what price Maruti Suzuki decides for this SUV.
