Sometimes, there can be problems with making payments on apps like UPI due to issues with the network or slow internet.
But don’t worry, even if the internet isn’t working, you can still make UPI payments offline, thanks to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
You can make offline payments using a basic button phone, which means you don’t need a fancy smartphone.
However, you can only do this with the mobile number linked to your bank account.
Here’s how to make an offline UPI payment:
- Dial *99# on your phone.
- Choose “Send Money” by selecting option “1”.
- Enter your UPI ID, mobile number linked to your bank account, or bank account number.
- Enter the amount you want to send (up to Rs 5,000 for offline payment).
- Enter your UPI PIN.
- Your payment will be completed after entering the UPI PIN.
To set up your phone for offline payments:
- Dial *99# from your phone.
- Choose your preferred language.
- Enter your bank’s IFSC code.
- Select option “1” or “2” or any other relevant option to set up your bank account for payment.
- Provide the last 6 digits of your debit card and its expiry date.
- The setup process will be complete after this.
