LTC Rule: Now Employees to receive Food allowance Alongside Travel Fare (See Details)

Central employees now have clearer rules to follow regarding Leave Travel Concession (LTC), which includes travel by train and air, along with food costs.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has shed light on three new regulations that revolve around LTC, making it easier for employees to understand and avail the benefits.

Key Updates for Central Employees

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has recently shared three important updates for central employees.

In accordance with these updates, there’s more clarity on the expenses related to food during train travel and the process of booking air tickets under government-sponsored LTC.

New LTC Rules

For government employees who receive their salary as per the Seventh Pay Commission, the rules pertaining to Leave Travel Concession (LTC) are governed by the Central Civil Services 1988 guidelines.

The latest changes include provisions for reimbursing food expenses incurred during train journeys.

If a government servant opts for Railway Catering food during their train travel, they can get their money reimbursed.

Streamlining Air Ticket Booking

When it comes to air travel, if an air ticket booked under LTC needs to be canceled for any reason, the charges imposed by the airlines, agents, or platforms for cancellation will also be reimbursed.

Moreover, government employees who aren’t eligible for air travel are no longer bound to book their tickets through specific travel agencies.

Instead, they can choose bus or train fare for the shortest route. However, in case of ticket cancellations, the employee will bear the cancellation charge.

These new rules aim to simplify the process of availing LTC benefits for central government employees.

With reimbursements for train food expenses and more flexibility in air ticket bookings, employees can make the most of their travel opportunities while staying aligned with these updated guidelines.
