Having a driving license is a must if you want to drive a vehicle in India. If you’re caught driving without one, you could be fined or even go to jail.
A driving license shows you are qualified to drive and know the rules. It keeps the roads safe and helps prevent accidents. Your driving license is also a valid ID.
Sometimes, people lose their driving license, but don’t worry. You can easily get a copy online in a few minutes from your home. There are two ways to do this:
DigiLocker:
Download the DigiLocker app, which the government made to securely store important documents.
Sign up using your Aadhar card or mobile number.
In the “Documents” section, choose “Driving License.”
Enter your license number and birthdate.
Your digital license will be in DigiLocker.
Transport Services Website:
Visit the Transport Services website.
Go to “Online Services” and pick “Driving License.”
Enter your license number and birthdate.
Download your digital license.
Important things to know:
Downloading your online license copy is free.
The police and others accept the online copy.
Save it on your phone or computer.
Print it and carry it with you.
Don’t share it with anyone.
Remember, the online copy is just for convenience.
If you need the original, get it from the transport office
