Indigo to Slash Air Travel Costs as Fuel Charges Get Axed

Air travel might get cheaper soon. Indigo, the country’s biggest private airline, has decided not to charge extra for fuel after reducing air fuel prices.

In October 2023, when air fuel prices rose, Indigo had planned to add a fuel charge.

But now, with a drop in crude oil prices and the government lowering air fuel costs, Indigo wants to pass on the savings to air passengers.

Keeping the promise of affordable flights, Indigo explained that air fuel prices change, so they’ll adjust fares accordingly.

The airline remains dedicated to providing affordable, punctual, polite, and hassle-free travel to its customers.

In October 2023, due to higher air fuel prices, Indigo had introduced fuel charges ranging from Rs 300 to Rs 1,000 for domestic and international routes.

However, as of January 1, 2024, with a 4% reduction in air fuel prices by government oil marketing companies, Indigo has decided not to impose fuel charges.

Airlines spend 40% of their costs on air fuel, which can make flights more expensive.

But with recent drops in crude oil prices and subsequent reductions in air fuel costs by oil companies for three consecutive months (November, December, and January), Indigo has chosen to eliminate the fuel charge.
