Indigo Airlines starts New Air Service between Lucknow and Varanasi

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Travelers heading to the sacred city of Varanasi from Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, have a reason to rejoice.

A new flight service, launched on August 10th, promises to significantly shorten the journey time.

Covering the distance between Lucknow and Varanasi in just 55 minutes, the Indigo Airlines flight will operate thrice a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The flight, accommodating 78 passengers, departs from Lucknow airport at 2:20 pm, with a return flight from Varanasi at 4:05 pm.

This service has been a long-awaited demand of the public, and it was inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Commuters can expect the fare to range between 2 to 2.5 thousand rupees, with some flexibility in pricing.

Businesspersons, who had advocated for air connectivity, can now complete their trip within an hour, compared to a five-hour train journey.

Indigo Airlines conducted a successful survey prior to launching this service, indicating the possibility of expanding the flight schedule to seven days a week if the demand remains high.

While a bus service exists between the two cities, taking an arduous eight to ten hours, the new flight service fills a vital gap in efficient transportation.

CM Yogi Adityanath noted that this development fulfills the aspirations of traders and pilgrims alike.

The inauguration also celebrated Varanasi’s progress in both physical and cultural spheres.

Over the past six years, Uttar Pradesh has witnessed remarkable growth in its aviation sector, with the number of airports increasing from two to nine.

Looking ahead, the state anticipates the opening of two new international airports in Ayodhya and Jewar, further enhancing connectivity and accessibility.
