India’s First Urban Expressway, Dwarka Expressway, Set to Open Soon with Automatic Toll Collection

The Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari, announced on Thursday that the completion of the Dwarka Expressway is expected within the next three to four months.

This groundbreaking project, the country’s first elevated urban expressway, aims to alleviate traffic congestion between Delhi and Gurugram.

Gadkari revealed that the expressway’s construction is divided into four packages, with the final work nearing completion.

The Dwarka Expressway will feature fully automated toll collection and incorporate an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) for enhanced efficiency.

Understanding the Route:

The Dwarka Expressway spans a total length of 29 km, with 18.9 km falling within Haryana’s jurisdiction, and the remaining 10.1 km located in Delhi.

The expressway originates near Shiv Murti in Mahipalpur, Delhi, adjacent to National Highway No. 8. It concludes near the toll plaza near Kherki-Daula village on National Highway No. 8 in Gurugram.

Notably, the expressway will provide seamless connectivity from the Dwarka region to the Indira Gandhi International Airport through the Dwarka Expressway, benefiting travelers and improving transportation links.
