India’s Chandrayaan-3 Successfully Launched, Making History in Space

Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) third moon mission, Chandrayaan-3, has been successfully launched from Sriharikota.

The historic launch took place today, July 14, at 2:35 pm from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

Chandrayaan-3, on its remarkable journey to the Moon, is expected to reach the lunar orbit in approximately 40 days.

By August 23 or 24, the lander and rover will make a precise landing on the moon’s south pole, initiating a 14-day experimental period.

The mission’s objectives include studying the lunar surface’s seismic activity, analyzing soil and dust composition, and investigating radiation from Earth.

Chandrayaan-3 Passes First Test: Separates from Rocket, Sets Course for the Moon

Soon after its launch, Chandrayaan-3 smoothly detached from the rocket at an altitude of approximately 179 km.

Within 16 minutes, it was placed in orbit by the rocket, marking a successful first test. ISRO Chief S. Somnath announced that Chandrayaan-3 has now embarked on its momentous journey towards the Moon.
