With this facility, passengers will have an easier time getting confirmed tickets.
The Railways will send the list of vacant seats to the mobile phones of passengers who use the IRCTC website to book tickets.
The new feature is expected to be launched in the next three months, and the process of adding it has already begun.
Passengers who book tickets from the IRCTC website will get the chance to choose the gate train chart under this new system.
After that, information about vacant seats will be available by opening the link of the message sent by IRCTC.
What You Can Check
After opening the link, passengers will be able to know which train they are traveling on and how many seats are vacant.
They will also be able to know in which category the seats are vacant.
According to railway rules, these tickets will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis. The fee for this service is expected to range from Rs 5 to Rs 10, or it could be zero.
How to Use the Feature
Passengers can find information about vacant seats by visiting the IRCTC website and checking the gate train chart.
However, with the new feature, details of vacant seats will also be sent to the mobile phones of passengers who have booked tickets using the IRCTC website.
To use the feature, passengers must select the chart or vacancy option while booking their tickets on the IRCTC website, then click on the Gate Chart option and choose the Get Alert via SMS or WhatsApp option.
If a passenger’s seat is not confirmed, this information will also be provided, and they can book seats by checking the vacant seats.
