Indian Railways: Indian Railways and India Post have launched Rail Post Gati Shakti Express Cargo Service.

This service is the beginning of the joint parcel product of Railways and India Post.

This means the customer’s property will come to him by himself.

A major initiative of a partnership between Indian Railways and Indian Post

It may be noted that Indian Railways has started Rail Post Gati Shakti Express Cargo Service to provide seamless logistics to the service area in the country.

Cargo Seva is a partnership initiative between Indian Railways and India Post.

It will help provide seamless logistics for the service sector in the country.

India Post will pick up the parcel from your home

Under the Rail Post Gati Shakti Express Cargo Service, India Post will pick up the goods at the customer’s doorstep and deliver them to the railway station.

After that, at the destination railway station, India Post will deliver the consignment to the doorstep of the destination address.

That is, the entire logistics service will be provided from the pick up of the parcel to the delivery at the customer’s premises.

‘Rail Post Gati Shakti Express Cargo Service’ has started in four sectors.

Customers will get service from Delhi to Kolkata, Bengaluru to Guwahati, Surat to Muzaffarpur and Hyderabad to Hazrat Nizamuddin.

However, 15 sectors (mentioned in Annexure-A) have been planned to be covered in the first phase.

It is clear from this that Indian Railways will expand this service further.

For your information, let us tell you that on March 31, 2022, a weekly pilot service was started from Surat to Varanasi by adding a VPU with ‘Tapti Ganga Express’.

After the budget announcement in 2022-23, proof of concept was conducted in Surat to Textiles section.

Today after conducting 99 trials on single parcel van mode and 16 shots on full train load mode, Railways has extended this joint initiative to the entire country. I have decided to start over.

Customers will also get a lot of benefits regarding loading through this service. In this, customers can also book small loads of 100 kg.

That is, Railways has made the quantity of its parcel load flexible.

For this affordable tariff, the first mile and last service charge of Rs.6/- per kg has been fixed, which provides a competitive and cost-effective solution to the customers compared to the existing road rates.

A mobile app, JPP, will also get benefit from the service

Apart from this, a mobile app will be developed. Along with booking goods through the app, online payment can also be done. Along with this, you will also be able to track goods live through this app.

Highlights of the service ‘Total Logistics Service.’

Pickup and delivery at customer’s premises, Palletization – i.e. transport through covered.

Sealed boxes, Semi-mechanized handling, Timetabled service, Insurance loss, damage and deterioration at 0.05% of the declared value of the cargo, Unified Parcel Way Bill etc.

A joint marketing team has been formed between the postal and railways to take this initiative forward. The abolition of the slab system of pricing is an innovation here.
