This new class aims to provide enhanced comfort and facilities surpassing those of the regular Third AC class, all at a fare lower than that of Third AC.
Passengers can now enjoy affordable travel with amenities similar to Third AC and make their summer journeys more comfortable.
The introduction of this economy class is initially implemented on the Patna-Bhagalpur-Banka Intercity Express, and similar provisions have been made on other Intercity Express routes.
Indian Railways is actively working to expand this economy class concept across the country, following the announcement of the Vande Bharat Metro train by Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.
The goal is to implement this change rapidly, with plans to roll out the Third AC Economy class by December, gradually phasing out sleeper class tickets on different routes.
While the demand for sleeper class may decrease due to the discomfort experienced during the hot season, Indian Railways is already making remarkable preparations to meet this evolving trend.
