In a bid to enhance passenger comfort and cater to changing travel preferences, Indian Railways has initiated a major experiment across the country.
The focus is to revitalize the Indian railway network while ensuring a better travel experience for passengers in all weather conditions.
As part of this initiative, the Vande Bharat Express and several high-speed trains are being introduced.
With the arrival of the summer season, there has been a noticeable shift in passenger preference from sleeper class to air-conditioned coaches.
In response to this trend, Indian Railways is pleased to announce the availability of Third AC Economy class in almost all trains.
This new class aims to provide enhanced comfort and facilities surpassing those of the regular Third AC class, all at a fare lower than that of Third AC.
Passengers can now enjoy affordable travel with amenities similar to Third AC and make their summer journeys more comfortable.
The introduction of this economy class is initially implemented on the Patna-Bhagalpur-Banka Intercity Express, and similar provisions have been made on other Intercity Express routes.
Indian Railways is actively working to expand this economy class concept across the country, following the announcement of the Vande Bharat Metro train by Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.
The goal is to implement this change rapidly, with plans to roll out the Third AC Economy class by December, gradually phasing out sleeper class tickets on different routes.
While the demand for sleeper class may decrease due to the discomfort experienced during the hot season, Indian Railways is already making remarkable preparations to meet this evolving trend.
The objective is to provide passengers with a more comfortable and affordable alternative, ensuring an enjoyable travel experience throughout the year.
