Indian Railways has announced the introduction of 6,369 special journeys across the country, aiming to provide a comfortable and convenient travel experience for train.
passengers during the summer season. To meet the increased demand, the Ministry of Railways has initiated 380 special trains, which is a significant increase from last year’s summer special trains.
The purpose of running more trains is to clear the extra rush of passengers and ensure hassle-free travel.
What will be the route of trains?
This year, Indian Railways is running 1,770 more rounds compared to the total number of summer special trains in 2022, which consisted of 3,599 rounds operated by 348 trains.
The average number of rounds per train has increased from 13.2 last summer to 16.8 rounds per special train this year.
List of States Covered by Railways
These summer special trains cover major routes such as Patna-Secunderabad, Patna-Yesvantpur, Barauni-Muzaffarpur,
Delhi-Patna, New Delhi-Katra, Chandigarh-Gorakhpur, Anand Vihar-Patna, Visakhapatnam-Puri-Howrah, Mumbai-Patna, and Mumbai-Gorakhpur.
The Railways has provided details on the seating capacity of the special trains.
The general coach can accommodate 100 passengers, while the sleeper coach can seat 72 passengers in ICF configuration and 78 passengers in LHB configuration.
To effectively manage the summer rush, all Zonal Railways have taken steps to ensure connectivity to various states including Karnataka
Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi. The operation of these special trips has already commenced.
South Western Railway is leading the way this summer season with the highest number of trips, offering 1,790 trips compared to 779 trips last year.
Western Railway has also increased its services, operating 1,470 trips as opposed to 438 trips last year.
