Medical students from India, who had to return from Ukraine due to the Russian invasion, will be granted permission to appear for a crucial examination in India.
During her three-day visit to New Delhi, Ukraine’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Dzhaparova informed the Indian side of this development.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated on Wednesday that the Deputy Foreign Minister informed them that Ukraine will permit foreign medical students to appear for the Unified State Qualification Exam in their home country, in relation to the matter concerning Indian medical students.
As Dzhaparova concluded her visit to India, the MEA released a statement.
At the onset of the Russian invasion in February last year, approximately 19,000 Indian students were enrolled in universities in Ukraine.
It is estimated that around 2,000 Indian students have returned to Ukraine and are currently residing primarily in the western region of the East European nation.
As per the Ukrainian authorities’ initiative, the Indian students who are still in India can attend online classes and also have the opportunity to take the Unified State Qualification Exam (USQE) in India.
While on her visit, the First Deputy Foreign Minister held discussions with Sanjay Verma, Secretary (West) at the MEA, and also met with Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi.
As per the statement released by the MEA, during her visit, Dzhaparova emphasized Ukraine’s interest in forging a stronger and more intimate relationship with India.
The statement further added that Dzhaparova’s visit to India would help enhance cooperation between the two nations.
