There is a tremendous demand for electric vehicles in the Indian market.
Currently, the country’s leading automobile manufacturer Tata Motors is dominating the four-wheeler electric vehicle segment, but very soon, it is getting tough competition.
According to media reports, Hyundai has started testing the electric version of its famous SUV Hyundai Creta, which has also been spotted recently.
Earlier, the company announced an investment of Rs 4,000 crore in the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) product portfolio.
The company recently revealed that it would introduce six new electric vehicles in the Indian market in different body types.
A few days ago, Hyundai launched the Ioniq 5 Electric SUV, and now if the news is to be believed then, the company is planning to launch the Creta Electric SUV.
This electric SUV has been codenamed (SU2i EV). This is the first time this electric SUV has been spotted testing in India.
What will the Hyundai Creta Electric be like:
However, it is difficult to say anything about this electric SUV. Because till now, the brand has yet to share any information about it.
But experts believe that in this also the company can use an electric motor of 39.2kWh capacity on the lines of its famous electric SUV Kona, which comes with a driving range of up to 452 kilometers on a single charge.
In this SUV, the company can also use Kona’s electric motor, which generates power of 136bhp and torque of 395Nm.
The testing model that has been spotted is gray, and it can be seen that its floor pan has been extended. It is also broadly similar to the current ICE-engined Creta.
The electric version of this SUV may be based on the existing model. On the other hand, the next generation model of Creta is also awaited, which has been launched in the global market.
Hyundai Creta Electric is currently in its early testing phase, and the company may showcase it at the 2025 Auto Expo. It is believed to reach the production level by the end of 2024 next year.
When launched, the Creta EV will directly rival the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YY8 EV. It will also compete with upcoming mid-size SUVs from Mahindra and Tata.
