In today’s digital age, UPI (Unified Payments Interface) has significantly reduced the need for cash transactions, but cash still remains essential for many. Often, people withdraw cash from ATMs using their debit cards.
But what if you forget your ATM card or your transaction is rejected due to a wrong PIN? No worries, as you can still withdraw money from an ATM without a debit card. Here’s how to do it.
Steps for Cardless Withdrawal Using UPI
- Go to the ATM and select the ‘Withdraw Cash’ option.
- Choose the UPI option on the ATM screen.
- A QR code will appear on the ATM screen.
- Open your UPI payment app (such as BHIM, Paytm, GPay, PhonePe) on your smartphone and scan the QR code using the QR scanner in the app.
- After scanning, select the amount you wish to withdraw and click on the ‘Proceed’ option.
- Enter your UPI PIN to complete the transaction.
This system, known as Interoperable Cardless Cash Withdrawal (ICCW), allows you to withdraw cash from ATMs without using a debit or credit card, provided you have a UPI-enabled app on your smartphone.
This service is available 24/7 across India, making cash withdrawal easy and convenient even without your physical debit card.
