Himachal Pradesh Unveils Electric Vehicle Policy with 50% Operator Subsidy

Himachal Pradesh residents, rejoice! The state government has rolled out a groundbreaking policy to promote electric vehicles (EVs) in the region.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu announced this visionary initiative aimed at boosting EV adoption and infrastructure development.

Key Highlights

EV Charging Stations: The state government plans to establish electric charging stations across Himachal Pradesh to facilitate EV users. These stations will receive strong government support.

50% Subsidy for Operators: Private operators who set up electric charging stations will receive a substantial 50% subsidy, a significant incentive to expand EV charging infrastructure.

Policy Focus: The new policy emphasizes key aspects such as generating employment opportunities, enhancing e-mobility services, and improving overall accessibility for EV users.

Government Commitment: Chief Minister Sukhu reiterated the government’s dedication to transforming Himachal Pradesh into a role model for EV adoption and reducing carbon emissions.

Green Corridors: To bolster the charging network, the state will develop six green corridors traversing national and state highways.

In the initial phase, these corridors will span a total of 2137 km.

Electric Buses: Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) is gradually integrating electric buses into its fleet, aligning with the state’s commitment to eco-friendly transportation.

The Chief Minister has instructed HRTC to identify suitable routes for these electric vehicles.

This progressive policy not only encourages the use of electric vehicles but also marks a significant step towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly Himachal Pradesh.
