Hero MotoCorp has introduced the pocket-friendly variant of the Destini 125 scooter in India, stepping up the competition against Honda Activa.
The Destini 125 Prime, with an attractive ex-showroom price of Rs 71,499, is set to challenge its rivals in the market.
Price Battle: Destini 125 Prime vs. Activa
The latest offering from Hero comes in at an impressive Rs 7,749 below the XL variant and an astounding Rs 14,239 less than the VX variant of the Xtec model.
Comparatively, the starting ex-showroom price of the Activa stands at Rs 76,234, resulting in a notable price difference of Rs 4,735 between the two models.
Design and Features
The Destini 125 Prime showcases a design that harkens back to classic styles, setting it apart from the Xtec variant.
This variation includes a larger headlamp, body-colored mirrors, single-piece grab rails, and a single-tone seat.
In contrast, the Xtec boasts chrome-finished mirrors, a grab rail with a backrest, and a dual-tone seat.
Notably, the Prime trim lacks certain features like Bluetooth connectivity and a front mobile charging port.
Omitted features encompass the under-seat charging port, under-seat lamp, auto start/stop functionality, and a semi-digital console.
Ride and Performance
In terms of ride and performance, the Destini 125 Prime diverges from the Xtec by opting for steel wheels instead of alloy wheels.
This scooter smoothly glides on 10-inch rims connected to telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear.
Drum brakes are positioned at both ends to ensure effective braking.
Importantly, the engine of the prime variant remains unchanged – a 124.6cc, air-cooled engine generates 9bhp and 10.36Nm of torque. This power is managed through a CVT gearbox.
With a fuel tank capacity of 5 liters and a weight of 115 kg, the Destini 125 Prime offers a well-rounded riding experience.
Color Options
Prospective buyers can choose from two elegant color options: Pearl Silver White and Nexus Blue Nobel Red.
With the introduction of the Destini 125 Prime, Hero MotoCorp aims to intensify the competition in the scooter market, offering consumers an affordable yet feature-rich option to consider alongside the popular Honda Activa.
