Bharat NCAP: Enhancing Vehicle Safety

Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BharatNCAP) was launched by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in August.

It aims to elevate road safety standards for passenger vehicles under 3.5 tonnes, promoting Indian car manufacturers’ global competitiveness and export potential.

What is Bharat NCAP?

Bharat NCAP, an initiative by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), assesses safety performance for vehicles weighing under 3.5 tonnes and accommodating up to eight passengers.

This initiative includes front and side crash tests, ensuring even budget-friendly cars offer strong safety features.
