Govt Introduces Bharat Rice to Tackle Price Hike (See Details)

To help people with the rising cost of rice, the Modi government introduced Bharat Rice. It’s priced at Rs 29 per kg and comes in 5 kg and 10 kg packs.

With rice prices going up by 15% in the past year, the government decided to launch Bharat Rice before the Lok Sabha elections, following Bharat Dal and Bharat Atta.

This move aims to ease the burden of rising rice prices. Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized the government’s commitment to making essential food items affordable for everyone.

To achieve this, the government is selling Bharat Rice at a subsidized rate of Rs 29 per kg. Each kilogram of Bharat Rice will contain five percent broken rice.

As part of this initiative, 100 mobile vans will sell Bharat Rice, and packs have been distributed to beneficiaries.

The Food Corporation of India (FCI) will provide five lakh tonnes of rice to the central reserves in collaboration with NAFED and NCCF. Rice will also be available for purchase online.

In response to high food prices, the government has already introduced pulses and flour under the Bharat brand.

Chana dal is being sold at Rs 60 per kg to tackle pulse inflation, while flour is priced at Rs 27.50 per kg to help with wheat price increases.

Now, with Bharat Rice, the government continues its efforts to provide essential food items at affordable prices.
