Govt bans 14 Apps used for Spreading Terror in Jammu and Kashmir

New Delhi: Sources report that the central government has banned 14 mobile messenger applications that were commonly utilized in Jammu and Kashmir for the purpose of spreading terror.

Allegedly, these applications were utilized by terrorists operating in the region to communicate with their supporters and on-ground workers (OGWs).

An official stated that agencies are monitoring the channels utilized by terrorists and Overground workers (OGWs) to communicate with each other.

During the course of one such investigation, it was discovered that a particular mobile application, which has no representatives in India, was being utilized for such activities, making it difficult for agencies to track the happenings on the app.

Subsequently, in collaboration with various intelligence agencies functioning in the region, a catalogue of applications that endanger national security and violate Indian regulations was compiled.

Once the aforementioned list had been prepared, the relevant ministry was notified of the request to prohibit these mobile applications.

The apps in question have been barred in accordance with Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, according to the official.

The intelligence agencies conveyed to their superiors through official channels that these applications are disseminating terrorist propaganda within the valley.

According to sources, the list of prohibited apps comprises Crypviser, Enigma, Safeswiss, Wickrme, Mediafire, Briar, BChat, Nandbox, Conion, IMO, Element, Second line, Zangi, Threema, and several others.
