Tech company Google recently revealed new features for Android at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024.
These features will soon be added to eligible devices, such as smartphones, Smart TVs, Smart Home accessories, and EVs.
Google has teamed up with Samsung to rename the existing Nearby Share feature, now called Quick Share. Here are some of the new Android features:
Quick Share
Formerly known as Nearby Share, Quick Share allows users to easily share large files on Android smartphones.
Google has collaborated with Samsung for this change. Quick Share, with its updated logo, will be gradually introduced starting next month.
It also enables connection to laptops and Windows PC models.
Fast Pair Support in Smart TVs
Smart TVs running on Android or Google TV operating systems now support fast pairing.
This allows users to effortlessly connect their truly wireless earbuds to the display with Google TV OS.
When compatible earbuds or headphones are turned on, a prominent pop-up will appear on the screen, facilitating a one-click connection.
Enhanced Screen Casting Capabilities
In select markets, users have the option to watch live short videos from Android smartphones on smart TVs with a single click.
Improved screen casting is also available on Google TV for brands like LG, HiSense, and TCL. This feature will soon be accessible in TV models with built-in Chromecast.
New Options in Android Auto
Android devices can now be connected to Android Auto, offering users an easy way to access multimedia content beyond Google Maps in their cars.
The new features include real-time battery information for EVs, providing details such as expected battery level, nearest charging points, and charging time.
These updates aim to enhance user experience across a variety of devices, making technology more accessible and user-friendly.
