In a significant move, Google is set to manufacture its Pixel series smartphones in India, starting with the Pixel 8.
The tech giant plans to collaborate with both international and domestic manufacturers for the production of these devices.
Google is optimistic that these Pixel Series smartphones will hit the market by 2024.
The company stated, “Since our first Pixel smartphone in 2016, our journey has centered around premium hardware, user-friendly software, and AI research.
Today, we recognize a great opportunity to make Pixel smartphones accessible to a wider audience in India. We are thrilled to announce our plans for local manufacturing.”
However, Google hasn’t disclosed whether the Pixel series’ production in India will result in reduced prices for the phones.
It’s worth noting that Google recently launched the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro in India, representing upgraded versions of the previous Pixel 7 models, featuring notable enhancements in both the processor and camera, underpinned by AI technology.
