Many people have been waiting for a 5-door version of the Thar for a long time. Finally, this year Mahindra & Mahindra is going to make their wish come true.
It’s expected that the 5-door Thar will be launched in the second half of the year. This will be great news for those who felt that the current 3-door model didn’t have enough space or features.
Right now, in India, only the 3-door Thar is available, and people often have to wait for months to get their hands on either the rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive versions.
What’s going to be special about the new Thar?
The most exciting thing about the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door model will be its updated interior, better features, and more space.
Unlike the current version, the 5-door Thar will have three rows of seats. This means people in the second row will be able to access the third row easily.
Since it will have five doors, the wheelbase will be longer, giving passengers more legroom and comfort.
The interior of the Mahindra Thar 5-door model will be significantly improved. It will have a better dashboard, a bigger screen, and comfortable, fully adjustable seats.
There might even be a sunroof, fulfilling another customer wish. Additionally, expect features like automatic AC, a 360-degree camera, multiple airbags, and some advanced driver assistance systems in the new Thar.
Engine and power might stay the same
The Mahindra Thar 5-door might come with the same engine options as the current 3-door model: a 2.2-liter mHawk diesel and a 2.0-liter mStallion petrol engine.
It will offer both manual and automatic transmission options, as well as 4X4 and 4X2 drivetrain choices.
It’s possible that Mahindra might introduce a hybrid powertrain in the future to improve the Thar’s mileage, but there’s no information about that from the company yet.
