In the wake of this unfortunate event, the authorities have announced compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of the deceased, Rs 2 lakh for the injured, and Rs 50,000 for minors who suffered injuries.

To avail travel insurance for train journeys, passengers need to apply for it at the time of ticket booking.
During the online purchase of a railway ticket through IRCTC, there is an option to select travel insurance.
By opting for it and paying a mere 35 paise, passengers can secure coverage up to Rs 10 lakh.
Experts strongly recommend passengers to take advantage of this insurance while purchasing tickets.
In case of an unfortunate accident, this insurance can prove to be immensely beneficial. Upon paying the 35 paise fee, passengers receive a document via email and message as soon as the ticket is booked.

This travel insurance provides compensation for various circumstances, including loss of belongings and baggage during the train journey.
Additionally, it offers coverage for medical expenses and compensation to the insured’s nominee in the event of death or permanent disability.
In case of death or total disability, the nominee receives Rs 10 lakh. For partial disability, the compensation amount is Rs 7.5 lakh,
while serious injuries warrant Rs 2 lakh. Minor injuries are compensated with Rs 10,000.

visit the nearest office of the insurance company offering the coverage and submit the necessary documents.
