The deadline to register for the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) has been extended from 31st July to 16th August.
All farmers should insure their crops by 16th August to protect against future disasters like floods and droughts.
Crops Covered Under the Scheme
For the Kharif season, the crops eligible for insurance include irrigated and non-irrigated paddy, soybean, maize, millet, tur/tuar, sorghum, kodo-kutki, groundnut, sesame, cotton, green gram, and urad.
Rabi and Perennial Crops Covered
The Rabi crops under the scheme are wheat, barley, gram, mustard, lentil, linseed, and peas. Perennial commercial
and horticultural crops such as sugarcane, cashew, coffee, coconut, mango, banana, and papaya are also covered.
Important Information for Farmers
Farmers must register through the official Government of India portal, pmfby.gov.in.
The insurance premium should be paid only through the NCIP-Portal Pay-Gov. An Aadhaar number is required for registration.

To insure your crops, visit the nearest bank branch or Public Service Center (CSC), or register online on the crop insurance portal.

Farmers need to have an Aadhaar card, a photocopy of their bank passbook, and land-related documents like Khatauni to register on the portal and get a fair price for their crops.
