There’s good news for retired workers! ESIC, or Employees’ State Insurance Corporation, has made a new decision.
Now, retired workers who were part of the insurance scheme will get medical benefits even after retirement.
This means they can still get help with medical expenses even after they stop working.
Who Can Benefit?
If you were working and part of the insurance scheme for at least five years before retiring, you can benefit from this new policy.
Also, if you retired after April 1, 2017, with a salary of up to Rs 30,000 per month, you qualify for these benefits.
Relief for North East States
ESIC is also making things easier for states in the North East, including Sikkim. They’re relaxing rules so that setting up medical facilities there becomes simpler.
This is part of the government’s plan to improve services in these areas.
Promoting AYUSH for Well-being
Another good thing is that ESIC is focusing on promoting AYUSH, which stands for Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy.
They’re planning to set up special units for these treatments in ESIC hospitals. This will help improve overall well-being for those covered by ESIC.
Better Healthcare Services
ESIC hospitals are also expanding their services. They started chemotherapy for cancer patients in 30 hospitals across the country in August 2023.
Remember, ESIC provides complete medical care, including doctor visits, treatment, medicines, specialist consultations,
and hospital stays, for insured employees and their dependents.
