Dolphin EV BYD’s Budget Hatchback Hits Market, India Launch Imminent – Battery & Price Details

China’s top car maker BYD recently introduced a new electric car called the Dolphin EV. It’s set to be the most budget-friendly electric car in their lineup when it launches in India.

Right now, it’s available in China for about 99,800 yuan (which is around 11.64 lakh in Indian rupees).

Price Drop: This updated version of the car is 14.6% cheaper than the previous one. BYD also recently launched a low-cost plug-in hybrid sedan.

They’ve trademarked the Dolphin EV name in India too, hinting it might come there soon at a similar low price.

Battery and Range: The Dolphin EV comes with two battery options globally. One has a 60.4 kWh battery and offers a range of 427 km per charge, while the other has a 44.9 kWh battery and can go up to 340 km on a single charge.

BYD uses LFP blade batteries in the Dolphin EV, and it takes about 29 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% using a fast charger.

Speed and Modes: The Dolphin EV has an electric motor that produces 201 horsepower and 290 Newton meters of torque.

It can reach a top speed of 160 km/h. Plus, it offers four riding modes: Sport, Normal, Economy, and Snow.
