The Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, has given permission for 83 new shops and businesses in the city to stay open all day and night.
Now, a total of 635 shops and businesses can operate 24/7.
This decision was made by a group called the Shops and Establishments Committee (SEC) of the Delhi government.
They agreed to let these 83 shops stay open around the clock as long as they follow the rules of the Delhi Shops and Establishments Act from 1954.
Before giving permission, the committee reviewed 122 requests. Unfortunately, 29 of them didn’t meet the requirements and were turned down.
However, the 83 that did meet all the rules were given the green light.
The reason behind allowing more shops and businesses to operate 24/7 is to help the city’s economy at night.
The government hopes this move will create more jobs and attract more visitors.
They’ve made it easier to apply for permission online, which has helped speed up the process.
Permission has been given to certain types of shops in different areas, and there will be strict punishments for breaking the rules.
This shows that they’re trying to balance making business easier while still following the law.
