Delhi Airport T1 Accident: Refunds in Seven Days and New Helplines Issued

Amid heavy rainfall, a section of the roof at Terminal-1 of Indira Gandhi International Airport collapsed early Friday morning, tragically resulting in the death of a cab driver and injuries to six others.

Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu promptly visited the site and held a comprehensive review meeting with officials.

Immediate Actions Taken

Establishment of War Rooms In response to the incident, high-level instructions were issued to set up dedicated war rooms at Terminal 2 and Terminal 3.

These war rooms will ensure efficient management of affected passengers, facilitating full refunds within seven days for canceled flights or providing alternative travel arrangements.

Helplines for IndiGo and SpiceJet Helpline numbers have been established for IndiGo and SpiceJet airlines at Terminal 2 and Terminal 3.

For IndiGo, the helpline numbers are 7428748308 (T2) and 7428748310 (T3). SpiceJet can be contacted at 0124-4983410, 0124-7101600, or 9711209864 (Mr. Rohit) for flight-related inquiries at Terminal 3.

Safety Inspections and Investigations

Structural Inspections Civil engineers from IIT Delhi have been directed to inspect the site of Terminal 1, ensuring thorough assessment of structural integrity.

Additionally, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) will inspect all airports nationwide within 5 to 7 days to verify their structural stability.

Technical Committee Formation Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has formed a technical committee to investigate the incident at Terminal 1, ensuring comprehensive analysis and preventive measures.

These measures underscore the commitment to passenger safety and efficient handling of operations at Delhi Airport in the wake of this unfortunate incident.
