Deadline Extended for Defense Pensioners’ Annual Life Certificate Submission

Many older individuals in the country must provide a document every year to show they are alive.

Normally, the government tells these individuals, especially those who were in the defense forces, to give this document in October or November.

However, the deadline for defense pensioners has been extended. Now, defense pensioners can give their document showing they are alive until January 31, 2024.

This deadline was originally November 30, 2023.

The defense pensioners received a special exception. The Principal Controller of Defense Accounts’ website has information saying that defense pensioners were supposed to give the document by November 30, 2023, but now they can do it until January 2024.

The website tells pensioners to submit the document before January 31.

If they don’t, their pension will stop from the next month. They can only start receiving the pension again after giving the document.

You might wonder why it’s necessary to give this document.

According to the rules of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), everyone who gets a pension from the government needs to prove they are alive once a year.

This shows that the person getting the pension is still alive. The document is only valid for one year, so it has to be given every year. If you haven’t done this yet, do it as soon as you can.

There are different ways to give this document. Pensioners can use their fingerprints to give a digital document. They can also give the document through a bank or post office.
