BSNL is giving free talk time to subscribers who live in the Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu.
The southern districts of Tamil Nadu have faced heavy rain and floods due to the Komarin cyclone in the Indian Ocean.
BSNL is providing this free talk time to help its users in the flood-affected areas.
All BSNL subscribers in flood-affected regions will automatically receive this talk time benefit between December 25th and September 29th.
The company is also working to restore the network for its customers in these areas.
For other telecom companies, BSNL is offering the benefit of Intra-Circle Roaming (ICR) in flood-affected areas.
This means that customers using services from other companies can use BSNL’s network during this time. This helps everyone stay connected and seek help if needed.
To protect the Base Trans-Receiver Stations (BTS) from damage during floods, BSNL has placed them four feet above the ground level.
This precaution has helped prevent about 70 percent of BTS from being damaged during the flood. However, the company’s optical fiber cable (OFC) network has been affected.
