Bank holiday in May 2023:As per the information released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), both private and public banks across the country are set to remain closed on certain days in May 2023.
In total, there will be 12 extra days of closure, which include the second and fourth Saturdays of the month as well as all Sundays.
In May 2023, bank holidays will vary by state and region, with some being observed as nationwide public holidays and others as local holidays.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has stated that this will not be uniformly applicable across the country and will differ depending on the state or region.
Therefore, it is recommended to check with the bank branch for any important bank-related work next month to avoid inconvenience.
List of bank holidays in May 2023:
May 1, 2023: In observance of Maharashtra Day/May Day, banks in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna, and Trivandrum will remain closed.
May 5, 2023: Banks will be closed in Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, and Srinagar in observance of Buddha Purnima.
May 7, 2023: All banks across the country will remain closed on account of Sunday.
May 9, 2023: In Kolkata, banks will remain closed on account of the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.
May 13, 2023: Due to the second Saturday, banks across the country will remain closed.
May 14, 2023: On account of Sunday, banks will remain closed.
May 16, 2023: In observance of Statehood Day, banks in Sikkim will remain closed.
May 21, 2023: Banks will be closed on account of Sunday.
May 22, 2023: In Shimla, banks will remain closed in observance of Maharana Pratap Jayanti.
May 24, 2023: In observance of Kazi Nazrul Islam Jayanti, banks in Tripura will remain closed.
May 27, 2023: Due to the fourth Saturday, banks will remain closed.
May 28, 2023: On account of Sunday, banks across the country will be closed.
