Next month, Apple is set to reveal its flagship retail store in Mumbai, followed shortly after by another store in New Delhi.
Location
Located in Mumbai’s Jio World Drive mall, the 22,000-sq.ft. store is positioned to become a retail icon akin to Apple’s renowned outlets in Los Angeles, New York, Beijing, Milan, and Singapore.
These stores will offer luxury products and maintain a similar design aesthetic to those found in other countries.
The second store, spanning 10,000 sq.ft., will open in Delhi’s Select Citywalk mall in Saket between April and June, potentially just a few days following the Mumbai opening.
Expected biggies
Apple plans to schedule the store’s opening date based on the availability of global executives, including Senior Vice President of Retail and People, Deirdre O’Brien, who is expected to attend the event.
However, it’s uncertain whether CEO Tim Cook will make an appearance. Currently, Apple is conducting a trial run of operations in the stores.
Despite missing revenue and profit expectations for the quarter that ended on December 31, 2022, Apple’s CEO expressed confidence in India, stating that he is “very bullish on India” after setting a quarterly revenue record in the country.
India as a golden goose
Despite recent setbacks, India has remained one of Apple’s top-performing markets for over six years.
In fact, the company achieved record-breaking sales figures in the country during the quarter that ended in December.
Apple’s CEO has expressed excitement over the Indian market, stating that it’s a major focus for the company.
In 2020, they launched their online store there, and now they are gearing up to introduce Apple Retail in the country.
The company is making a significant effort to cater to the Indian market, with financing options and trade-ins to make products more affordable and accessible to a wider audience.
