US-based tech giant Apple is set to kickstart the manufacturing of its wireless earbuds, AirPods, at Foxconn’s facility located in Hyderabad.
Inside sources reveal that Foxconn has greenlit a substantial investment of $400 million for the Hyderabad plant.
The commencement of large-scale production is anticipated to take place by December 2024.
Sources confirm that the AirPods will be assembled within Foxconn’s Hyderabad factory, with full-scale manufacturing operations scheduled to commence by December.
Despite reaching out to both iPhone and Foxconn for comments, no responses have been received at the time of reporting.
This landmark move marks the second Apple product to be manufactured in India.
The company previously announced the initiation of iPhone production on Indian soil.
Meanwhile, Foxconn has voiced its ambitious plans for operations within India, hinting at potential investments totaling billions of dollars.
Young Liu, the Chairman and CEO of the company, conveyed these intentions while discussing performance results for the April-June quarter.
